OSHA investigates work conditions at F1 site

YNN- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, is investigating the Circuit of Americas construction site near Elroy.

COTA will host the United States Grand Prix in November, but to meet deadlines crews are working through the relentless Texas heat.

Officials with the Workers Defense Project say at least 80 workers are putting in 10-hour days without rest breaks or company-provided water. Last weekend three of the workers approached the nonprofit about the conditions.

“There are far more construction worker deaths in Texas then there are in any other state in the country,” Greg Casar with the Workers Defense Project said.

Workers Defense filed a complaint with OSHA their behalf.

“These workers have not been receiving breaks or water for some time, but at one point they just snapped, and they realized that they couldn’t keep doing this working out there in such harsh conditions,” Casar said. read more
