Builder of 21Rio Partners with WDP to Better Protect Construction Workers

Stand with WDP members at our press conference to recognize and celebrate the signing of a partnership agreement between Maxum Development and WDP.  Together, we will work to ensure better safety trainings and more protections for workers.

Maxum was the builder of 21Rio, where three workers fell to their deaths in a tragic, yet preventable, accident in 2009.  In response, Maxum is turning over a new leaf for the industry and taking a leadership role by partnering with WDP to become Austin’s first Premier Community Builder.

The agreement willl combine expanded safety protections with increased communication throughout the construction contracting chain in order to prevent safety hazards. The agreement will extend to all of Maxum’s future development sites.  The first project where this will take effect is on S’ol, the upcoming high-rise boutique hotel planned for downtown Austin.
