Workers Defense Project vows continues to fight for immigrant families

Undocumented families are the backbone of the Texas economy

AUSTIN, TX – Today, U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia halts Senate Bill 4, signed into law by Governor Abbott,  and has blocked the provisions on questioning immigration status, mandatory ICE detainers in local jails, and restrictions on freedom of speech of local officials. The ruling comes days before the law is scheduled to go into effect.

“Today, Texas families won the first of many battles against Gov. Abbott and his racist agenda,” said Jose P. Garza, executive director of the Workers Defense Project. “Texas families are fighting for the Texas that we can be. We will continue to fight back in court, in the streets, and in our communities.”
