Dallas Event: A Day Without An Immigrant
May 1st at 10 AM
Wells Fargo Bank
1520 N. Cockrell Hill Rd., Dallas TX 75211
On May 1, immigrants and allies across the country will resist to demonstrate the power and strength of immigrants in the United States. Dallas immigrants will not work, will not go to school, will not purchase to demonstrate economic power through our collective power and the importance of the contributions of the immigrants and low wage workers who have built not only our city but have led to the economic success of the United States.
On this day we will be demonstrating outside of Wells Fargo at 10 AM on 1521 N Cockrell Hill Rd, Dallas, TX 75211 and many of us will be closing our bank accounts. We will rally outside and share our stories. We are targeting Wells Fargo because they fund Geo Group, a private prison company that imprisons our mothers, daughters, fathers, and sons.
Currently Geo Group is working to impression on children by pushing a bill through the Texas legislature that would license Immigration Detention Centers as Child Care facilities. We will not stand for our children to be held as prisioners, we will not stand for the attack on immigrant families that are the backbone of the Texas economy. We will show our power and unite against hate.
Following the rally, Workers Defense Project members invite you to join us for a potluck convivio and conversation at our office located on 11001 Midway Road
